Faces In The Book
After thirty days in the camp, the prisoner is barely a human being. The soles of both feet sliced by daggers, one knee crippled during torture, the mujahideen derisively call him “char” (donkey), which is exactly how they treat him. Pulling up his eyelids, spitting into his face, playfully running a dagger across his neck, the mujahideen compete to get a reaction from their war toy.
