Our unit comes across a Colt AR-15 in the brush. There is a steel band around the stock. On one side is imprinted, “FPL.” On the other side is imprinted, “Lucas.” A few feet away is an abandoned military jacket and civilian pants.

Fifteen feet below in a gulley is the naked corpse of Lucas. He is bent over, as if in hiding, with his head facing a cliff.
